What is Golden Bunker?
If you can’t make it to this year’s Gamesday in Baltimore, the Chicago Battle Bunker is hosting its very own Mini Gamesday & Golden Bunker. We made sure to make your experience at Mini Gamesday as authentic as possible. With an advance ticket purchase, you can bring home your very own limited Mini Gamesday miniature, modeled by Games Workshop staff. And if you’re brave enough, you can take your chance to win the most prestigious miniature painting competition trophy – the Golden Bunker. What is the Golden Bunker? It’s the painting competition for the rest of us! Fame and glory are but a brush stroke away...
CATEGORY 1 – Single Miniature
Any single human-sized Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40,000, or Lord of the Rings miniature mounted on an appropriately sized gaming base. This category includes Terminators (but other models supplied with 400mm and larger should be entered in the Large Model category), single models on horses, boars, or wolves, but not those mounted on large monsters. Note that bike-mounted character models must be entered in the Vehicle/War Machine category.
CATEGORY 2 – Squad/Regiment
The entry must consist of a minimum of five models mounted on their standard gaming bases. Squad/Regiment must be a legal unit in game terms. Judges will be looking for units that best exemplify the qualities and character of the army they represent.
CATEGORY 3 – Large/Monster
This category is for any large Warhammer 40,000 model or Warhammer monster mounted on an appropriately sized gaming base. Models on large scenic bases should be entered in the Open Category instead.
CATEGORY 4 – Vehicles/War Machines
This category is open to any single Warhammer 40,000 vehicles, Dreadnoughts and walker models. It also covers single bike-mounted characters. Fantasy War Machines may be mounted on a scenic base. Battlefleet Gothic spaceships can be entered into this category as well.
CATEGORY 5 – Diorama
This category is comprised of at least two single models mounted on a base no larger than 12”x12”x12”. The judges will be looking for a dynamic pairing of well-matched opponents in some kind of combat-oriented situation or other dramatic scene. Models may be from Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, The Lord of the Rings, Necromunda, Blood Bowl, and Mordheim ranges.
CATEGORY 6 – Forge World
Entries for this category consist of any model that are produced by Forge World.
CATEGORY 7 – Citadel Terrain
This category is for any terrain kit sold in any Games Workshop stores.
CATEGORY 8 – The Young Bloods Competition
The Yound Bloods painting competition is open to any competitors aged 14 years or under. Your entry should consist of any single human-sized Citadel miniature either Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, Mordheim, Necromunda, Blood Bowl or The Lord of the Rings, mounted on an appropriately sized gaming base. The judges will be looking for well-painted and well-presented models. Paint schemes should demonstrate originality, imagination and consistency with the spirit of the game worlds.
CATEGORY 9 – The Open Competition
As always, the Open competition is your opportunity to let your imagination run riot. Anything goes! Your entry could be a single model, a sweeping diorama or whatever takes your fancy. Please note that entries can be no larger than 18”x18”x18”.
